Amber Heard is back on social media and thanking her fans for supporting her at the world premiere of her new film In the Fire.

One year after her highly-publicized defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, Amber Heard has returned to the spotlight. Last weekend, she attended the world premiere of her newest movie, In the Fire, at Italy's Taormina Film Festival. She has since reactivated her Instagram account, posting an image of herself smiling at the event while thanking her fans for the support. It's the first post she's shared on social media since announcing in December 2022 that she'd settled the defamation case with Depp.

"Thank you for such an incredibly warm reception at the Taormina Film festival for my latest movie In the Fire. It was an unforgettable weekend," Heard writes in the caption.

During the trial last year, Heard had endured heavy criticism online, but Heard has maintained many fans who continue to give her support. The above post has been liked more than 207,000 times in one day's time, with that number continuing to rise. Heard would also share a follow-up post on Saturday, including an image of her surrounded by cheering fans as she makes her entrance at the Taormina Film Festival.

In the caption of that post, Heard writes, "What a reception… Thank you to all of my fans and supporters. I am so touched."

Heard also spoke with People while in Taormina about In the Fire. At the risk of sounding "cheesy," she says the supernatural thriller is about the power of love. In the film, Heard plays a psychiatrist in the late 1800s who arrives on a rich farm hoping to treat a desperate and disturbed child following accusations that the boy had been possessed by the devil.

“It’s a beautiful movie about the almost supernatural effect and force of love," Heard explains. "It is about the boundaries that love can cross and its creation, and really about the overwhelming power that love has. I don’t want to sound cheesy about it, but it’s a movie about love."

One of Heard's co-stars, Luca Calvani, was also present at the film festival with director Conor Allyn. Both had high praise for Heard while speaking about the film at the event, commending her "courage" behind the scenes along with her performance with her role in In the Fire.

"I’m so happy that Amber went through something so awful and it didn’t change her as a person,” as Allyn told Deadline, referring to the defamation trial and online criticism. “She’s still the shining light that we explained earlier and to go through something that terrible and be able to come out the other side and be whole, well I can’t imagine it.”

Calvani added, "Anyone that suffers that sort of ordeal and is able to overcome it with grace, no matter what side you’re on, no matter what you believe or which social media [outlet] you plug into or whatever your hashtags are, you have to give credit for the incredible journey this woman has been through and she can teach us all a couple of things as far as resilience and courage."
